Peony Asian Fusion

Every now and then there is a need for a cheap, quick, no fuss meal and Peony Asian Fusion is perfect.

Nestled just off Queen Street Mall, it boasts an impressive menu of over fifty items and most of which are under $10. Being Asian fusion, there’s a mix of Hong Kong, Japanese, Thai and Chinese dishes available, ranging from dumplings and sushi to stir fried noodles and sizzling plates.

Looks are also slightly deceiving as on first glance it feels like you’re entering a lavish Asian banquet hall, with large booths and tables, giant light fittings and colourful red walls, but Peony operates on the somewhat odd scheme, for this style of restaurant, of being seated with menus but then having to order and pay at the counter.

On this visit I ordered BBQ pork buns, xiao long bao pork dumplings, Pad Thai chicken noodles and a bottle of Sapporo. This all came to the measly price of $25. Quality of the food was good, although some more soup in the dumplings would have been nice, but for the price paid there are no complaints.

If you’re after a quick, decent, pan-Asian meal at an exceptional price then Peony Asian Fusion is definitely the place to visit.
